About Us
Transcend Contractors LLC is a central New Jersey full-service landscape design firm founded by owner Michael Mellor. We offer artisanal landscape design and craftsmanship, lawn maintenance, landscape maintenance, masonry, and hardscaping.
With over 20 years of experience in all related fields, we offer a broad range of additional services which include comprehensive turf and landscape care, irrigation, custom carpentry for your outdoor space, and excavating, just to name a few.
We strive to provide inspired, creative designs that incorporate top-quality materials to compliment your existing property assets, and we stand behind our workmanship 100%.
Our projects have originality yet give the appearance of something very intentional and fitting, like it was meant to be. About Michael Mellor, Owner
Owner Michael Mellor and family
Michael started his landscaping career at age 19, cutting lawns on a crew for a local company. After working up to a crew leader position, his interest turned more toward landscape and hardscape installations. Since becoming involved with landscaping and hardscaping, he has worked at a handful of high-end design build companies at various capacities.
Before venturing out on his own in 2016, Michael spent 12 years managing a very diverse portfolio of work for a company, overseeing 30+ employees, doing everything from excavating, landscape construction, irrigation, lighting, paving, concrete, and carpentry. Given his many talents and strong work ethic, it was inevitable that Michael would one day start his own company. Hence, Transcend Contractors was born.
For projects that involve both construction/installation and landscape design, Michael partners with his brother, Tim Mellor, who owns and operates Terra Verde Design. Transcend and Terra Verde partner on most jobs, working as a single entity to keep communications with our clients clear and easy.
Michael has a certificate from Rutgers University in landscape management, is ICPI certified, has a New Jersey Pesticide License, and regularly attends classes and seminars to stay current on the latest trends and changes in the industry. He is very happily married with three children and currently resides in Ewing Township.
Our Design Build Process
Our process starts with a consultation and questionnaire about your project. We do this because it gives us the answers to a lot of factors which will dictate how the rest of the process will transpire.
Once we have the questionnaire and have talked through some of the specifics of the project, we will begin the design. Our finished designs are hand drawn, scaled, and color sketches, accompanied by an official estimate or contract.
Depending on the size of the project, the scope of work, and the amount of consulting necessary, we may charge a fee for design and consulting. In most cases, if we are contracted to do the work/ installation, a large percentage or all of the fees can be rolled into the job.
